Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Counseling
Building Resilience for Life's Challenges
If you or your child is feeling overwhelmed, struggling with anxiety or confidence, or navigating a tough transition, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I work with children, teens, and young adults to help them feel more grounded, confident, and capable in their daily lives.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience in both school and clinical settings. I’ve spent my career supporting young people and their families, and I’m also a certified Child Life Specialist, Play Therapist, and educator.
My approach is warm, practical, and tailored to each person I work with. I help clients build emotional regulation skills, strengthen self-esteem, and handle challenges at school, in relationships, and at home. I draw from evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy, always with a focus on what will be most helpful in real life.
Whether I’m working with a young child, a teen, or a young adult, my goal is to create a steady, supportive space where they feel understood—and where meaningful, lasting growth can happen.
What sets my work apart is my experience in both clinical and school settings. I understand not only what’s happening internally for my clients, but also the real-life challenges they face every day—at school, at home, and in their relationships.
Who I Work With
I work with children to help them express emotions, build coping and self-regulation skills, improve behavior, and strengthen social skills. Sessions incorporate play-based techniques.
Supporting teens in managing anxiety and stress, navigating peer relationships, building confidence and identity, and developing executive functioning skills.
Working with clients in their late teens and 20s to manage transitions, build independence, navigate relationships, and develop tools for emotional well-being.
Guidance and support for parents navigating behavioral concerns, emotional regulation, school stress, and family communication dynamics.
School Support and Collaboration
I work as a liaison with schools to support behavior plans, social-emotional skill building, classroom interactions, and crisis support/re-entry.
My background in school settings helps me understand these real-life pressures.

Cancellations are expected within 24 hours of appointment time. A missed appointment will result in half of the session fee. Clients may use the Simple Practice client portal for paperless documents and secure billing: https://kimfinch.clientsecure.me
Insurance reimbursement
I am an out-of-network provider. This means I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide a receipt (superbill) for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You may also use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for sessions. Because I am not on insurance panels, I am able to maintain a smaller practice with greater flexibility and availability for my clients. If you plan to seek reimbursement, I recommend contacting your insurance provider in advance to understand your out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement rates vary and are typically lower than in-network coverage. Please note that insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis in order to process reimbursement claims.

A Little about me
I have lived in Memphis and Germantown my entire life and care deeply about supporting children and families in this community.
Professionally, I’ve worked at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Daybreak Treatment Center, and Lakeside Behavioral Health.
I also have extensive experience in school settings, where I’ve partnered with students, families, and educators to support both emotional well-being and academic success. This allows me to understand not only what young people are feeling internally, but also the real-life pressures they face every day.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good FaithEstimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 901-235-0555.
